Desert Nomadic Organic Farm is dedicated to the production of high-quality white sesame oil which is extracted from white sesame seed produced in our farm. The crop of white sesame plant is grown on organic soil which contain cow dunk and compost fertilizers which are also collected from our own cattle waste. Crop is Irrigated through sprinkler irrigation method. Our land, soil and cattle are our mother nature and for us organic farming is not just about using organic farming method but also respecting and loving the land which provide us our living. The entire farming team of desert nomadic organic farm work on this ideology the more love we give the more love we receive in form of nutrients in our products. We are certified organic farmer, our organic certification is under RSOCA.
In the our farm the cultivation of sesame crops takes place after the first monsoon, known as “Halot” in the local Rajasthani language. The sesame seeds are carefully preserved using traditional farming methods, such as storing them in ashes and neem leaves before they are utilized. After approximately 5 to 7 days, these seeds sprout and transform into small plants measuring around 15-20 cm, after that we score out the weed that grows along the main crop.
By the second week of September, the semi-grown sesame crops begin to adorn the undulating fields with vibrant purple flowers. Towards the end of October, the crops reach maturity. The harvesting process commences slightly before full growth is achieved to prevent the dry seeds and flowers from falling off.
At our farm sesame seeds are meticulously cleaned by hand and then dried in the sun for approximately 4 to 5 hours. This ensures that they are thoroughly dried and ready to produce sesame oil. The white sesame seeds are placed in a wooden Kohlu Ghani (oil mill) and ground slowly, maintaining a low RPM. This controlled grinding process keeps the material’s temperature at a maximum of 40 °C. If the temperature exceeds this limit, it can be detected by touch. In such cases, the oil-making process is halted to preserve the integrity and nutritional value of the black sesame oil. Once the oil is extracted from the seeds it is taken to next step where the oil is kept stable for some hours so the particles settle at the bottom and the oil captures the upper layer. After this is done, oil is filled directly in the glass bottles without any filtration so that the pure oil can be manufactured. In this way, the natural goodness and nutrients of the oil is retained.
The consumption of sesame offers numerous health benefits:

It enhances the quality of breast milk, making it beneficial for infants.
Sesame seeds contain tryptophan, an ingredient known to alleviate sleep-related issues.
Additionally, they are rich in lecithin, which can improve memory power.
Sesame oil, a prominent product derived from these seeds, is a valuable source of vitamin E and antioxidants.
Its high content of omega-6 fatty acids contributes to maintaining a healthy heart. Moreover, sesame oil has been known to alleviate stress, depression, and pain. It naturally aids in controlling anemia.
Sesame seeds and oil can be incorporated into various culinary preparations. They can be added directly to salads or used for stir-frying vegetables, imparting a unique and flavorful touch. Sesame oil is ideal for deep-frying and can be used to make puris, parathas, and other deep-fried delicacies.

Overall, the desert nomadic organic cultivation of sesame in Rajasthan showcases a harmonious connection between traditional farming practices, the unique ecosystem of the desert, and the production of valuable sesame seeds and oil that offer both culinary and health benefits.
